Each sculpture is assembled from approximately 19 individual bamboo pieces, carefully shaped, drilled, fitted, and joined with fine wire. Adhesive is used to help stabilize the construction. Rather than being carved from a single block, this skull is built piece by piece, allowing the natural color, grain, and nodes of the bamboo to contribute to its character.
